Turquoise Trail is a charter school and, as such, is not governed by the Santa Fe Public School Board. The Turquoise Trail Governance Council is our school board. It is where the parents, teachers, and community members come together to sustain and oversee this unique and excellent school.

The Governance Council meets at the school on the third Thursday of each month at 5:30 PM. Meetings and agendas are advertised in advance through the school newsletter and website. They are posted in the school lobby. In addition to the monthly business meetings, the Governance Council meets the first Monday of each month for work sessions.

The Governance Council is responsible for:

• Policy: The Governance Council is responsible for setting policy for the school.
• Personnel: The Governance Council is responsible for authorizing positions and approval of the salary schedule, makes decisions about how school funds are spent
• Budget: The Governance Council approves the final budget for the school after discussion and recommendation of the school budget committee.
• Operation of the School: The Governance Council sets policy for the school and authorizes the Principal to manage day-to-day operation of the school.
